John has been a Chartered Accountant since 1987. He consults to a wide range of organisations from incorporated associations to public listed companies on all issues associated with operational processes, accounting, audit and taxation functions. John has provided advice on organisational reporting and auditing to a broad range of organisations within both for profit and not for profit sectors and has lectured extensively on these topics.
John has over 30 years’ experience in audit and taxation and has been a registered company auditor for more than 20 years.
From 1978 to 1991, John worked for Yarwood Vane & Co and its successor firms including Deloittes, both in Australia and the United States. During that time, he was responsible for managing the audits of many organisations from small non-profit organisations to public trustees to multi-national publicly listed groups. He was also involved in rendering taxation advice across a broad range of industries and managing complex corporate reorganisations.
From 1991 to date, John has operated his own public practice and established its audit and taxation divisions. In this role, John advises individuals, small businesses, associations and private and public companies on all manner of audit and taxation issues and liaises with government authorities on a range of organisational and compliance issues. John has also been appointed to a number of executive and non-executive board positions and was the CFO responsible for managing the due diligence program and sale of a client’s business to an international acquirer.
John holds a Bachelor of Business, is a CA, a Registered Company Auditor, a Registered ASIC Agent, a Registered SMSF Auditor and a Registered Tax Agent. John is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a fully accredited trust and estate practitioner able to advise in relation to all trusts and estates, including wills and related matters.
He has lectured for the CPA, CA and FINSIA on investment, accounting and taxation subjects as well as being a speaker at industry conferences on accounting and reporting issues.
